Dickie Baxter Taproom & Bistro
A renovated circa 1852 historical home, turned into the Valley’s new hot spot. We feature a wide beer and wine selection, imaginative local cuisine by top chefs, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We have turned an old historical home into something fabulous for the community of Canning and beyond.
A bit on the history of the Dickie Baxter House:
Built 1852 and owned by Eliakim E. Dickie. From 1861 to 1863 this building was owned by the Hon. Charles Dickie, MLC and hosted frequently legislative assemblies. Also owned by W. H. Baxter, a master shipbuilder in Canning, who built the Preference, the A.B. Barteau and the W.H. Baxter at the Bigelow shipyard which proudly stood on the shores of Canning, just across the street from the house.
Today, it is where Canning meets, laughs, enjoys drinks and fabulous food. Join us in the next phase of the story of this beautiful home, we look forward to seeing you !
